Eleventh International Congress of Demotic Studies

Accomodation

Hotel accommodation is limited in Oxford, especially during the tourist season, which is when the Congress will take place, and tends to be expensive. This is why many conferences and other meetings held in Oxford, including this one, take place in colleges where it is also possible for participants to book accommodation. Not only does this allow them to stay at the Congress venue itself, there is normally a considerable savings involved as well. Merton College, founded in 1264, is one of Oxford’s oldest colleges and, according to many, the most beautiful. It still retains a number of its original buildings dating to the 13th and 14th centuries. The charge for an en-suite room in the College will be £72 per day, for a standard room £58, both including breakfast. All rooms in the College are single rooms. Participants in the Demotic Congress are free to organise alternative accommodation if they wish, but it is unlikely that they will find comparable accommodation elsewhere for the same rates, so booking at Merton is recommended. There are also discounted Congress registration fees for those who do so (see ‘Registration’ page). If you would like to book accommodation in Merton College for the Congress, please go to the On-Line Store.

NB: Please note that all booking of accommodation at Merton College has to be done via the Congress On-Line Store, and not the Congress organisers.
