Taught courses

The Fogong Temple Pagoda, built in 1056 during the Liao Dynasty, is the oldest existent fully-wooden pagoda in China.

Graduates can be admitted to Oxford University to study Chinese Language and Literature and many aspects of Chinese Society, History, Politics, Economics, Art and Archaeology, Anthropology.

The following are the principal taught courses:

Most graduates wishing to undertake a D.Phil. will first follow one or other of these courses. They may however also be admitted through other departments.

Other faculties and departments admitting students to follow courses leading to a graduate degree (Archaeology, Anthropology, International Relations, Politics, Economics, History, Environment Institute, Geography).

Research Degree

If you wish to read for a doctorate in any field of the humanities related to early and imperial Chinese society, in Modern Chinese Literature or Chinese Cultural Studies, you may apply for the Doctor of Philosophy in Oriental Studies/PRS status.
