M.St. in Modern Jewish Studies

The M.St. in Modern Jewish Studies aims to allow students to do specialised study from a range of options relating to the modern Jewish world, and to ensure a sufficient grasp of modern Hebrew or Yiddish to enable them to read sources in these languages.

The course consists of one compulsory Hebrew or Yiddish text paper, two options chosen by the student from the list of options, and a 15,000 word dissertation. Courses will be taught through a combination of lectures and tutorials. Students will be expected to write a significant number of essays for the compulsory paper and for each option.
