Research Interests:

My research has focused on the study of Kabbalah (the Jewish mystical tradition),  Hasidism (modern Jewish mysticism), and Maimonides’ Guide of the Perplexed. In broader terms, my work in Jewish thought explores the relationship between Jewish mystical and philosophic thought.

Current Projects:

I am exploring the intertwined trajectories of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, particularly the ways in which Christian Hebraism and the study of Hebrew and Judaism at the University of Oxford reflect a more nuanced narrative of Jewish interaction with other religions.

Courses Taught:

I have taught courses on Kabbalah, Hasidism, Maimonides, Jewish Thought, and Medieval Hebrew Literature.

Recent Publications:

Books:

  • Kabbalah
  • Spiritual Judaism
  • What Do Jews Believe?
  • The Mystic Quest
