Islamic Intellectual History; Islamic law and legal theory; Classical and Contemporary Sufism, the history of the hadith corpus as a discipline and literary genre

Current Projects:

Dr Alabbas is currently completing a monograph that examines the life and works of Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Bukhārī (d.256/870), writing a biography of him and documenting his hadith criticism and legal principles.
