Jan Joosten studied Theology and Semitic languages in Belgium, the US and Israel. He taught biblical languages and Old Testament exegesis at the University of Strasbourg (France) for 20 years before coming to Oxford in 2014. He is editor-in-chief of the journal Vetus Testamentum, president of the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies, and editor, together with Eberhard Bons, of the forthcoming Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint.
