Scholarships for Study Relating to Japan

Sasakawa Fund

The University of Oxford’s Sasakawa Fund welcomes applications for scholarships from current and prospective students in relevant Masters and Research degrees. The Fund’s focus is the advancement of knowledge and understanding of Japan, and within this encourages applications connected to degrees in diverse subjects across the Humanities and Social, Physical and Medical Sciences. 

The scholarships are worth £15,000 per year, as a contribution towards maintenance costs.  They are renewable for a second and, in the case of DPhil students third year subject to satisfactory progress.  

To apply, complete an application form and send it to trustfunds@ames.ox.ac.uk by 31 March 2026 ​​​​, accompanied by:

  • a CV
  • a statement of research interests (for research degrees) or a personal statement (for Masters degrees).

Please ask a referee to send a letter of reference to the same address by the same date.
