Trust Funds

The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Trust Funds provide financial support and resources to enable students to carry out their research, develop their academic work, and enhance their studies. These funds support activities such as research travel, conference participation, fieldwork, language study, publication costs, thesis research, and, in some cases, maintenance or living expenses.

Some of trust funds are already committed to specific professorships and prizes that do not accept unsolicited applications (details of these funds here).

There are also Trust Funds that may be open to applications from eligible students. Below you will find Trust Funds organised by subject area, each offering different types of support depending on the terms of the individual endowment. How to Apply

1. Identify the appropriate Trust Fund

Review the Trust Funds listed under your subject area and identify the suitability for your proposed activity (e.g. research travel, conference participation, thesis support, or maintenance).

2. Prepare your application

Complete the application form, providing a brief description of your project or travel, an explanation of how the funding will support your research or study, and a full breakdown of costs. You must also declare any other funding received or requested.

3. Submit your application

Return your filled out application form to trustfunds@ames.ox.ac.uk. It is always advisable to contact trustfunds@ames.ox.ac.uk if you have any queries regarding your application to any of the Trust Funds listed on the Faculty Website.

Applications must be submitted before any expenditure takes place and by the stated deadline for the relevant Fund.
